Zalando, Europe’s largest e-commerce fashion retailer, hired Engineering 2K to build its new distribution centre in Nogarole Rocca, close to Verona. The over 130,000-square-meter structure managed in partnership with Fiege, is expected to improve Zalando’s local services in Italy and Southern Europe. The Nogarole Rocca distribution centre is now one of the most innovative warehouses in Zalando’s logistics park. It is multi-level and has an intra-logistics facility with cutting-edge technology that prioritises productivity, efficiency, and personal safety.
The facility has automated picking towers, kilometres of self-contained conveyor belts, and more than a hundred state-of-the-art forklift trucks. This equipment works in perfect harmony and safety with the 1,700 people working in the warehouse daily. Efficiency and the flow of merchandise routes were two of the top considerations in constructing this oversized facility. This approach maximises productivity and ensures safe operations, even at peak times.
