For the second time, NewCold turned to Engineering 2K as a general contractor to manage its extraordinary economic growth. We assisted this major food logistics operator in building a 24,700-square-metre facility for storing frozen and chilled goods. The building features 18 loading bays, an office area with many windows for optimal light, and a food storage area. The unique nature of NewCold’s operation required an automated logistical system and a specific internal layout.

Owing to its exceptional airtightness, the building passed the Door Fan Test, a prerequisite for using the existing fire protection system.
The delivery stations were constructed in accordance with the specifications of e-commerce specialist Amazon, demonstrating the high calibre of the equipment. A 30 kW photovoltaic system was installed on the roof of the car park. In order to fulfil its goal of becoming the largest food logistics hub in Europe, NewCold intends to construct four such warehouses totalling around 250,400 pallet spaces in the Fiorenzuola d’Arda region.
